USC announces plan for

Divestment from
Fossil Fuels

USC will freeze new investments in fossil fuels, divest from existing fossil fuel holdings, and create an Advisory Committee on Investment Responsibility with members of the Trojan community.

DivestSC believes that USC can become a leader in the shift to a carbon-neutral economy and that our endowment is a critical tool for supporting positive change.

We are a coalition of students, alumni, faculty, and staff that seeks to reduce USC’s ties to the fossil fuel industry, and replace those connections with companies that better consider climate risk.

We currently pursue our mission through four core activities:

We identify cutting edge investment practices and track general ESG trends in institutional investing.

We urge the USC Administration to seek out investments that benefit USC’s financial future without compromising sustainability.

We increase opportunities for students to engage with innovative industries that offer better job prospects for graduates.

We provide opportunities for students to practice advocacy, drive organizational change, and build financial literacy.
